Applause is due for this Joker being able to take this joke and run with it. They then challenge Murr to keep the gag going, and it's hard to hold the laughter back as Murr pretends to have been fired and goes out to try to get sympathy from his now former customer. The fictional Larry has not as of yet been located, which of course is the point of the gag.
